new way of life
online journal

Being baptised in the Holy Spirit is a beginning, not an end. This journey invites you to grow in the new life God has given you. Ongoing formation, prayer, and community life help you deepen your understanding of the spiritual fruits and gifts and learn to use them effectively in daily Christian living.

Participation in praise and worship, and community activities strengthens your walk with the Lord and supports your discernment. Over the coming weeks, you will explore Scripture, reflect on God’s Word, and open your heart to the action of the Holy Spirit.

This formation path culminates in a retreat designed to help you discern where God is calling you to live and serve in the life of His church.

week Two reflections

Wk1 Day 1

Week one: faith

A week to rediscover that faith is a gift, a way of seeing, and a way of living. Each day offers Scripture, a short reflection, and an invitation to listen to the Lord.

day one reflection:
faith is a gift

Read Scripture: John 6:1–15

Reflection: Faith begins with God. It is not earned or achieved; it is received. As the text says, “For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith… not by anything you have done, so that nobody can claim the credit.” (Eph 2:8–9)

Let this truth settle in your heart: God Himself initiates your faith and sustains it.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection:
faith sees the unseen

Read Scripture: John 6:16–21

Reflection: Faith allows you to see beyond what is visible. The world often behaves as though humanity is self‑made, but faith reveals a deeper reality. “Only faith can guarantee the blessings that we hope for or prove the existence of realities that are unseen.” (Heb 11:1–3)

Faith opens your eyes to God’s creative power and His presence in all things.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection:
faith grows through the word

Read Scripture: Galatians 5:18–25

Reflection: Faith grows when you immerse yourself in Scripture. As the text reminds us, “Faith comes… from hearing the word of Christ.” (Rom 10:17)

The more you listen to God’s Word, the more your heart becomes attuned to His Spirit.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection:
Faith Draws on God’s Power

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:1–6

Reflection: Faith expects God to act. It is not confidence in your own strength but in His. The text recalls Peter’s bold declaration: “In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!” (Acts 3:6)

Faith steps forward trusting that God will supply what is needed.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection:
Faith Trusts the Father’s Generosity

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:7–13

Reflection: Faith relies on God’s promises. Jesus assures us of the Father’s goodness: “How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:9–13)

Faith asks boldly, trusting that God delights in giving what is good.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection:
Faith Obeys Even When It Seems Foolish

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:14–15

Reflection: Sometimes faith requires actions that seem unreasonable to the world. The text recalls Israel marching around Jericho for seven days before the walls fell (Joshua 6:14) .

Faith obeys even when the outcome is unseen, trusting that God is at work.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection:
Faith Trusts God to Do What He Promises

Read Scripture: Hebrews 13:8

Reflection: Faith rests in God’s unchanging character. As the text says, “The just shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)

Faith is not about your ability to believe but about God’s ability to fulfil His word.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week two:
the charismatic gifts

The Holy Spirit equips every believer with gifts that build up the Body of Christ and reveal God’s power in the world. This week helps you recognise, welcome, and grow in these gifts so you can serve with confidence and boldness.

day one reflection:
The Spirit Empowers Us to Witness

Read Scripture: Acts 16:1–10

Reflection: The ability to witness to Jesus does not come from human strength. It comes from the Holy Spirit working within us. As the text says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and then you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8).

When the Spirit fills you, your life becomes a testimony to God’s saving power.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection
The Gifts Manifest God’s Power

Read Scripture: Acts 16:11–15

Reflection: The gifts of the Holy Spirit reveal God’s presence and power in the Church. Scripture shows believers strengthened, emboldened, and transformed. “As they prayed, the house… rocked… they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to proclaim the word of God fearlessly.” (Acts 4:31).

The Spirit equips you to speak and act with courage.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection: The Spirit Enables Us to Do the Works of Jesus

Read Scripture: Acts 16:16–24

Reflection: Jesus promises that those who believe in Him will share in His works. “Whoever believes in me will perform the same works as I do… and even greater works.” (John 14:12).

The gifts of the Spirit are not optional extras — they are part of the normal Christian life.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection: The Spirit Gives Insight in the Moment of Need

Read Scripture: Acts 16:25–40

Reflection: The Holy Spirit provides wisdom, clarity, and the right words at the right time. Jesus assures us, “The Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” (Luke 12:12).

When you surrender to the Spirit, He guides you in every situation.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection:

The Spirit Changes Hearts

Read Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:1–11

Reflection: The gifts of the Spirit touch hearts and draw people to Christ. Jesus revealed the Samaritan woman’s life, and “many… believed in Him on the strength of the woman’s words of testimony.” (John 4:17, 39).

The same Spirit who worked through Jesus works through you today.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week three:

the power of god

God’s power is not distant or abstract. It is active in the lives of believers who trust Him, listen to His Word, and step out in faith. This week invites you to recognise how God works through your faith, strengthens you in trials, and leads you into bold obedience.

day one reflection:
God’s Power Strengthens Our Faith

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:1–6

Reflection: God’s power is at work in you as you persevere in faith. The Scripture encourages you to run the race with endurance, fixing your eyes on Jesus. You are not alone — God disciplines, guides, and strengthens those He loves. His power sustains you as you grow in holiness.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection
God’s Power Works Through Us

Read Scripture: Acts 3:6

Reflection: God’s power is not limited by your resources. Peter declared, “I have neither silver nor gold, but I will give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!” This is the posture of a believer who trusts God’s authority. When you act in faith, God’s power is released in ways far beyond your natural ability.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection: God’s Power Responds to Faithful Asking

Read Scripture: Luke 11:9–13

Reflection: God delights in giving good gifts to His children. Jesus assures us that the Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. Faith means relying on God’s promises and expecting Him to act. His power is poured out when you ask with trust and openness.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection:
God’s Power Calls Us to Repentance

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:7–13

Reflection: God’s power shapes your character. His discipline is not punishment but love — forming you into the likeness of Christ. This passage invites you to examine your heart and seek God’s forgiveness where needed. His power restores, heals, and strengthens what is weak.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection: God’s Power Leads Us Beyond Human Logic

Read Scripture: Hebrews 12:14–15

Reflection: Faith sometimes requires actions that seem unreasonable to the world. Israel marched around Jericho for seven days before the walls fell, trusting God’s command (Joshua 6). God’s power is revealed when you obey Him even when the outcome is unseen. Faithful obedience opens the way for God to act.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection: God’s Power Is Revealed Through Perseverance

Read Scripture: Hebrews 13:8

Reflection: God is unchanging. His power is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Faith means trusting that God will do what He has promised — whether immediately, gradually, or in ways you do not expect. “The just shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)

Living by faith means expecting God to move.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection: God’s Power Is the Foundation of Our Walk

Read Scripture: Habakkuk 2:4

Reflection: Faith is not about your ability to believe but about God’s ability to act. His power is the foundation of your life in the Spirit. Trust Him, rely on Him, and expect Him to work in every area of your life. God is faithful to His word and powerful to fulfil His promises.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week four: covenant life, god calls a people

God does not call us to follow Him alone. From the beginning, He has gathered a people, formed them, and invited them into a shared life of worship, holiness, and mission. This week explores what it means to belong to God and to one another — to live as a people formed by His Spirit.

day one reflection:
God Calls a People to Himself

Read Scripture: Exodus 19:3–6

Reflection: God’s call is always relational. He gathers a people not simply to obey Him, but to belong to Him. Israel was told, “You shall be my treasured possession,” a people set apart for His purposes. God continues to call His people today — not as isolated believers, but as a community shaped by His presence.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection:
God Forms a People Through Covenant

Read Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:6–9

Reflection: Covenant is God’s initiative. He binds Himself to His people with steadfast love and faithfulness. Covenant life is not about perfection but about belonging — responding to God’s faithfulness with trust, obedience, and love. God’s covenant forms a people who reflect His character in the world.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection:
God Calls Us Into a Shared Life

Read Scripture: Acts 2:42–47

Reflection: The early Church lived a shared life of prayer, fellowship, teaching, and mission. They were “together,” united in heart and purpose. Covenant life continues this pattern: a people who worship together, support one another, and live as a visible sign of God’s Kingdom. Community is not optional — it is part of God’s design.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection:
God Calls Us to Walk Together

Read Scripture: Ephesians 4:1–6

Reflection: Covenant life requires humility, patience, and unity. We are called to “bear with one another in love,” guarding the unity the Spirit gives. God forms a people who walk together — not because it is easy, but because it is holy. Unity is a witness to the world that Jesus is Lord.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection:
God Calls Us to Serve One Another

Read Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12–27

Reflection: Every member of God’s people has a place, a purpose, and a gift. The Body of Christ is built up when each person serves according to the grace given them. Covenant life means recognising that your life is not your own — you belong to a people, and your gifts are for their good.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection:
God Calls Us to Holiness Together

Read Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9–12

Reflection: God forms a people who live differently — a “chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.” Holiness is not merely personal; it is communal. Together we learn to reject what is destructive and embrace what leads to life. Our shared holiness becomes a light to the world.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection:
God Calls Us Into Mission as a People

Read Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20

Reflection: God’s people are sent. Covenant life is not inward‑looking; it is outward‑moving. Jesus commissions His people to make disciples, baptise, teach, and witness to the Kingdom. We go not as individuals but as a community empowered by the Spirit and united in purpose.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week five: DISCERNMENT OF DIRECTION IN MY LIFE

God desires to lead you. He speaks through His Word, through the movements of your heart, through the wisdom of others, and through the circumstances of your life.
Discernment is the art of recognising His voice and responding with trust.

Before beginning the daily reflections, here is a short guide to the Ignatian Discernment Process, which provides a practical and reliable way to recognise God’s direction.

day one reflection:
God Speaks and We Learn to Listen

Read Scripture: John 10:1–5

Reflection: Jesus says His sheep recognise His voice. Discernment begins with relationship — spending time with the Lord, learning the tone of His voice, and noticing how He speaks through Scripture, prayer, and the movements of your heart. God is not silent; He is always drawing you toward His will.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection:
God’s Word Lights the Path

Read Scripture: Psalm 119:105

Reflection: God’s Word is a lamp for your feet — not a spotlight for the whole journey. Discernment often comes step by step. Scripture shapes your desires, corrects your direction, and anchors your decisions in truth. When you stay close to the Word, you stay close to God’s will.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection: God Guides Through the Desires He Forms in Us

Read Scripture: Philippians 2:12–13

Reflection: God works within you, shaping your desires and inclinations. Discernment is not simply asking, “What do I want?” but “What desires is God forming in me?” When your heart is surrendered, God’s will becomes your joy, not your burden. He leads from within as well as from above.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection: God Confirms His Direction Through Peace

Read Scripture: Colossians 3:15

Reflection: The peace of Christ is a powerful guide. When you are aligned with God’s will, there is often a deep interior peace — not the absence of challenge, but the presence of clarity. When you step outside His will, that peace fades. Discernment listens to the movements of peace and unrest.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection:
God Leads Through Wise Counsel

Read Scripture: Proverbs 11:14

Reflection:Discernment is never done alone. God speaks through the wisdom of mature believers, spiritual leaders, and the community He places around you. Seeking counsel is not weakness — it is humility. God often confirms His direction through the voices of those who walk with Him.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection:
God Calls Us to Step Out in Faith

Read Scripture: Matthew 14:22–33

Reflection: Peter stepped out of the boat before he knew how the story would end. Discernment often requires courage — taking a step even when you cannot see the whole path. God reveals the next step, not the entire journey. Faith and discernment always walk together.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection:
God’s Will Is Always Rooted in Love

Read Scripture: 1 John 4:7–12

Reflection: The ultimate test of discernment is love. God’s will always leads you deeper into love of Him and love of others. If a direction draws you toward generosity, holiness, service, and communion, it reflects God’s heart. Discernment is not just about what you do — it is about who you become.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week six: A PEOPLE WHO BELONG TO GOD AND TO ONE ANOTHER

Life in the Spirit is never meant to be lived alone. From the earliest pages of Scripture to the birth of the Church, God gathers a people, forms them, and teaches them to walk together.

Community is not simply a support structure — it is part of God’s plan for your holiness, your mission, and your joy.

This week explores what it means to live as a people united in Christ, committed to one another, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

day one reflection:
God Calls Us Into Community

Read Scripture: Genesis 2:18; Acts 2:42

Reflection: God declares, “It is not good for man to be alone.” From the beginning, God forms people for relationship — with Him and with one another. The early Church “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship,” living a shared life shaped by prayer, worship, and mutual care.
Community is God’s idea, not ours.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection:
Community Is a Gift of the Holy Spirit

Read Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12–13

Reflection: The Holy Spirit forms us into one Body. Though we are many, we are united by one Spirit and one baptism. Community is not built on shared interests or personalities — it is built on the Spirit’s work in us. To live in community is to recognise that we belong to one another because we belong to Christ.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection: Community Shapes Us Into Christlikeness

Read Scripture: Proverbs 27:17; Ephesians 4:15–16

Reflection: “Iron sharpens iron.” God uses community to refine us, challenge us, and help us grow. We learn patience, humility, forgiveness, and love by walking with real people in real relationships.
Community is one of God’s primary tools for forming Christ in us.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection:
Community Calls Us to Love in Action

Read Scripture: John 13:34–35

Reflection: Jesus says the world will recognise His disciples by their love for one another. Community is where love becomes concrete — in service, encouragement, sacrifice, and generosity. Love is not a feeling; it is a decision to seek the good of others, especially when it costs us something.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection:
Community Requires Commitment

Read Scripture: Acts 4:32–35

Reflection: The early believers were “of one heart and mind.” They shared their lives, their resources, and their mission. Community flourishes when we commit ourselves to one another — not casually, but intentionally. Commitment creates stability, trust, and the space for deep transformation.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection:
Community Sends Us on Mission

Read Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 13:1–3

Reflection: Community is not inward‑focused. It is a launching place for mission. The Church in Antioch prayed, fasted, listened to the Spirit, and sent out Paul and Barnabas. When we live in community, we discover our gifts, receive encouragement, and are sent to bring Christ to the world.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection:
Community Reveals God’s Kingdom

Read Scripture: John 17:20–23

Reflection: Jesus prayed that His followers would be one “so that the world may believe.” Community is a sign of the Kingdom — a living witness that God is real, present, and at work.
When we walk together in unity, forgiveness, and love, we reveal the heart of God to the world.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

Week seven: COMMUNITY — A WAY OF LIFE

Community is not simply a gathering or a program — it is a way of life. God calls His people to live in committed relationships, to share their lives, to walk together in holiness, and to serve His mission as one body.

Community is where faith becomes concrete, where love becomes visible, and where discipleship becomes a shared journey.

This week explores what it means to embrace community not as an activity, but as a lifestyle shaped by the Holy Spirit.

day one reflection: Community Is God’s Design for Our Lives

Read Scripture: Acts 2:42–47

Reflection: The early Christians lived a rhythm of life together — prayer, teaching, fellowship, shared meals, generosity, and mission. This was not an event but a way of life. Community is God’s design for forming disciples and revealing His Kingdom. When we live together in unity and devotion, God adds life, strength, and fruitfulness.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day two reflection: Community Means Sharing Life, Not Just Space

Read Scripture: Romans 12:9–13

Reflection: Community is built on genuine love — honouring one another, serving with zeal, persevering in prayer, and meeting practical needs. To live community as a way of life means opening your heart, your time, and your home. It means choosing connection over isolation and generosity over self‑protection.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day three reflection: Community Forms Us Through Commitment

Read Scripture: Philippians 2:1–4

Reflection: Community flourishes when we commit ourselves to one another. Commitment creates stability, trust, and the space for deep transformation.
It means valuing others above ourselves, seeking unity, and embracing humility. Community becomes a way of life when we choose to stay, to invest, and to love consistently.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day four reflection:
Community Calls Us to Mutual Support

Read Scripture: Galatians 6:1–2

Reflection: We are called to “carry one another’s burdens.” Community is where we support each other in weakness, encourage each other in trials, and restore each other with gentleness.
A community that lives this way becomes a place of healing, strength, and spiritual safety.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day five reflection: Community Requires Forgiveness & Reconciliation

Read Scripture: Colossians 3:12–15

Reflection: Living closely with others inevitably brings misunderstandings and conflict. Community becomes a way of life when we choose forgiveness, patience, and compassion.
Reconciliation is not optional — it is the heart of Christian community. When we forgive as the Lord forgave us, we protect unity and reveal Christ’s love.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day six reflection: Community Is a School of Holiness

Read Scripture: Hebrews 10:24–25

Reflection: Community helps us grow in holiness. We “spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” encouraging each other to persevere in faith. Community is where we learn discipline, accountability, prayerfulness, and service. It is where we become more like Christ — together.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.

day seven reflection: Community Sends Us Out in Mission

Read Scripture: John 17:20–23

Reflection: Jesus prayed that His followers would be one so that the world would believe. Community is a witness — a sign of God’s Kingdom breaking into the world. When we live community as a way of life, we become a people who carry Christ’s presence into families, workplaces, parishes, and society.
Community is not the end — it is the launching place for mission.

Reflect: Ask the Lord to reveal the meaning of these words for you.
